Fool’s High

It’s such a maddening high
It hits you
Hard in the chest
Very hard
When you are busy minding your business
Or not
Crippled and left without defense
Then happiness sends you on errands
Offering bits of herself as a reward
And because you have known
the poverty of love so intimately
You foolishly run and parade the bits of happiness
clutched in those slippery hands
You never learn
So while you are up there
So high
You see a flash of that deadly smirk
But it’s so far and you are so high
The slap travels from nowhere and lands on your face
There it is again, clearer. The smirk.
It’s reality leaning over you, where you fell
Wake up!
You fool!

i met the Priest...i realised that though society seems to respect the baker and despise the shepherd, the baker is not happy despite his stability and the shepherd is free to pursue the pyramids, because he is a dreamer; and one day he will meet Fatima. I am the boy; the shepherd.
